    This belt is not thick and probably not used as a weight belt…..but it worked wonders to stabilize my back of which I have issues with.

    Typical good Gaiam quality and offers good back support, but… it stinks

    I have a generic one of these and the velcro more or less stopped working. The Gaiam one seems to have a much better (bigger) velcro closure. Although we'll see how it holds up over time. Part of the problem with the generic one is the 'soft' part of the belt that the velcro attaches to got worn over time. So I'll update the review if it starts having trouble closing.

    For now, it seems to be very good quality and the velcro part connects/closes easily. So I'm pretty happy with it. It also looks stylish with the blue border, but since I wear it under my workout clothes that doesn't really matter to me.

    I've had it for a couple days and it really stinks of neoprene. _Usually_ the smell dissipates after a week or so, so hopefully that's the case. But my whole bedroom smells of neoprene if I leave it there. And I'm not that sensitive to smells. I'll update the review if it doesn't get better. But assume it got better if there's no update.

    I use it to keep my lower back warmed up. I have some lower back issues and these belts seems to be effective at offering some extra support for my back (it's not really a back brace but it helps) and keeping everything nice and warm which seems to help prevent injury. I do a mix of yoga, weights and cardio and have been wearing a belt like this for a couple years. I feel like my lower back has definitely been less injury prone. That said, it's not magic… I can still tweak my back with an overenthusiastic yoga twist.

    I have no clue if it works for 'losing weight'. I'm in good shape so maybe not the best test subject for that. However, I can't imagine it helps that much. I'm sure I sweat a little more with it on but if you're expecting to magically lose weight just by wearing this thing, you'll probably be disappointed.

    Anyways, overall another solid Gaiam product. Very happy with it.

    I use these for lower back support when sleeping, since I'm a side sleeper and my wife "must" have those super thick and deep pillow-top mattresses. I've use a lot of different ones and this one, while it works, is on the lower end. I have a 38in waist and it barely fits, so don't get it if you're a 40+ because even with the largest size available, this one won't work for you. As for the hook-n-loop attachment, it's about 6 inches tall and 1 inch wide, meaning it will not attach straight, especially when trying to pull it tighter for back support. The material is really thin, has the right amount of stretch, attaches really strong, and after using this for 3 weeks straight it shows no sign of wear. So, it's ok but the design could use some rethought to be really useful.
